Although the species is at dire risk of going extinct in the country, there is hope. With elevated management and law enforcement presence in Niokolo-Koba, the park has the potential of maintaining a population of hundreds of lions. @pantheracats, a grantee of LRF, is working to establish a 656 square mile secure zone—slightly larger than the size of Hong Kong—in the park with plans to gradually expand this zone. #lions #big cats #lionrecovery #wildlifeconservation
